Experience Required:
Two options: 1. Without an exam by the commission-shall file an application showing that he/she is currently licensed as a home inspector after written exam by an organization approved by the commission and have a minimum of one year of experience as a home inspector under the direction of a licensed home inspector or have performed a minimum of fifty residential inspections. Option 2: With an exam by commission-minimum one year under home inspector or have successfully completed a formal course of training-than an applicant shall be entitled to take the home inspector licensing exam as prescribed by the commission
Exam: SC Home Inspector Exam and the National Home Inspector Examination
South Carolina Home Inspection Training: South Carolina Licensure (Title 40, Chapter 59, Article 3) enacted in 1996. South Carolina law requires any person desiring to be a licensed home inspector to file with the South Carolina Residential Builders Commission.
